Birthday Bash Numero Dos

In John's family, they like to have a "Birthday Week."  I'm not entirely sure if this is real or facetious, but anyway, it sort of turned out that way for Isaac.  Lucky duck got another birthday party later in the week!

"Cowboy!" he yells.
I'm not sure where that came from, since it was actually a zhu zhu hamster-skunk thing...
named Cowboy, I guess.

A book that plays music.
(annoying, high-pitched, chimey music.
Over, and over, and over...)
Note: Whoever thought this was a great idea, I'm sending him with it to YOUR house.

Even a second cake!
So yummy.  (Thanks Amber!)

and one for the next morning!

Snowman

Briefly, we had a baby snowman, compliments of Isaac and "Aimer."

There he is!  Lost in the Glare of the Blinding Sunlight.
But at least the sun was shining.  :)

And 3 seconds later... gone.

It was fun while it lasted.

3!

Isaac was very excited for his birthday this year (which made it very fun.)

He had BikennaQueen (Lightning McQueen) cups and plates.

("BikennaQueen" is his Favorite "Moobie.")

We made PunCakes (cupcakes).

He even got to lick the beaters.

He wore the special Birthday Crown Mommy made him.

He blew out candles.

(But first he tried to touch the fire.)

He "Played Presents."

while Skyping with some of Mommy's family.

He slept in his New Room.

It's Good to be 3!

No News is No News

I've been a bit lax lately in my posting...  We've been busy!  Isaac's birthday is coming up, and we are trying to get his New Room all ready for that, so we've been painting and sewing (ok, futuristically speaking, I "have been" sewing.  Currently, I can only honestly say I have been to the fabric store...) and planning.  So much fun.  I hope he likes it!  I'll post pics when we're finished.  He talks excitedly about his New Room, but I'm not sure he really knows what is going on yet.  Kind of like Baby Brother.  He seems excited, but I'm afraid the reality is going to be a little different than the theory.  hehe.

Speaking of Baby Brother, as close as I can tell, we are now down to about #34.  (We started around #60 when we joined the wait list on 11/29.)  I don't really have a guess as to when we'll be matched.  Maybe another few months???

This morning we went to see the doctor. Isaac is now 30 lbs and 38 inches.  He grew a little more, but didn't really gain much.  Anyway, he's been sick a lot lately.  Basically, he's  had a fever on and off for over 2 weeks now.  He'll have a fever for a few days, then be fine for a few, then have a fever again for a few days, then be fine for a few.  We're back to the fever stage again, and I brought him in to be checked out.  The tricky part is, he doesn't really have much else for symptoms besides the fever.  His nose is a little runny, he coughs a little, but nothing that seems like it should give him a temp of 102 every weekend.  (Which is how it's turned out so far.  Which I guess has been nice, because I haven't had to take the last 2 weeks off work and I have been able to be home with him when he wasn't feeling well.)  Of course, when we were at the doctor's this morning, he was only in the 99-100 range and he was acting pretty normal, so the doctor said he thought it wasn't anything too big of a deal.  Maybe he gets a new cold every week from those other pesky sick kids in his class at daycare or something.  The doc did say if he still has a fever on Monday he would write him something, but he didn't get all worked up about it since he looked ok today and didn't seem to have any big bad infections going on anywhere.  By this evening he was back up to 101, but seemed generally better than yesterday evening when he was totally floppy and snuggled in our laps and not moving (except for shivering even tho he was all snuggled against us and wrapped up in a blanket.)

I suppose that is all our non-news.  I need to get creative and make Isaac's curtains now (see?  the future is coming!)

Kiddie Conversations, Chapter 2

One day we were driving along, and Isaac suddenly demands "Mommy, No touch-a sun, okay?  Okay, Mommy?  No touch-a sun.

Um... Ok, Isaac.  I promise not to touch the sun.
***
So a few days later we were driving along, and Isaac was again pointing out the sun, and I remarked, "Yeah, but we don't touch the sun, huh?"

And Isaac replied, "No!  It's hot!  Blow it!"
***
(Pretending to "sound out" a word)
"K"... "K"... "K"...    Fish!
***
Isaac (pointing to the floor): Ababa, come sit right here!
Ababa (sitting on the couch):  No, Isaac, I'm going to stay sitting here for now.
Isaac (pointing again):  Ababa, Sit!  (pause)  One... Two...
(On three, Isaac gets a Time Out if he doesn't follow directions.)
***
Hey Mommy!  Hey Ababa!  Whatcha doin' guys?!
***
I gave Isaac a haircut, and by the end he was surrounded by little curls on the floor.  He did not love this aspect.

"What's that on the floor? Mommy clean it up please." and points to the trash. "Put it in here."
***
Isaac was sitting at the table, and Ababa walks down the hall to the bathroom. Isaac hears the door open and close, and says "Where Ababa going?"
Mommy: Sounds like he's going to the potty.
Isaac: Oh. Ababa Gettin' Stinky?
(I suppose you can guess where Isaac ends up when he starts "Gettin' Stinky.")

Global Warming, Anyone?

We had a snow day last week, along with about half of the states in the US.  Around here, we got about 10 inches or so on Tuesday & Wednesday.  (And then 5 more inches on Saturday, just for good measure.  Where is this Global Warming they promised me?! But I digress...)

We took advantage of this snowy Wednesday off to wear our jammies all day, eat junk food, and play in the snow.  It was a great Blizzard Party!

Isaac learned the ageless art of making snow angels.

This took a little bit.  He would sit, then lean back really slooooowwly.  And move his legs.

A quick lesson from Ababa

After about the third attempt, he did move his arms.  And finally we had little mini snow angels!

Isaac and Ababa also had a little snowball fight.

Sadly, our attempts at a Snowman were in vain.
Probably largely in part to the low temps and the sheet of ice on top of the snow.

Lots of mittens!
(The first ones wouldn't stay on.)

This is the look we got when we said it was time to go inside.
Apparently, this boy likes the snow as much as he likes the water.
(Finally we bribed him with some chips.)

Guess Who's a Citizen?

Ok, so he's technically been a citizen since April, when his re-adoption papers were approved, but now we have the papers to prove it!

Winter Swimming

In honor of John's birthday we took a weekend getaway to an indoor water park.
Isaac had a blast.  :)

Loving the little sprayer.

The bucket at the top dumps on the people every few minutes.
(I did not try this out.)

Wheeeeeee!  The bigger slide!

Ababa catches him at the bottom.

Going for a walk.

Water baby.
