Several days ago, the boys were playing outside on the swings.
They know the rule is to "stay where I can see you."
But little boys are not known for their propensity to follow rules.
So every few minutes, I check on them.
Soon I look out the window and they aren't there. So I go out on the deck to check things out.
Turns out they had gone over to the neighbor's house.
"Your kids are running away from home." she informs me.
"We wanted to go visit Miss Lori!" Isaac pipes up.
(She always gives them candy.)
Apparently they just made themselves right at home, and started walking up her back deck stairs. She saw them, thought Eli looked wobbly on the stairs, and came down to see them instead.
So I go over and retrieve my stray children and pay my neighbor dues with small talk. She proclaims all of my small people cute, asks again where the newest are from, and then says,
"Looks like you've got your hands full... What were you thinking?"
What was I thinking?
Well...
I was thinking about this boy:
And how he would be best friends (and worst enemies) with this boy:
And how they would both adore this girl:
(even tho they sometimes poke her in the eyes.)
And how we would do a lot of this:
and some of this:
and a little of this:
or this:
(can you tell we are potty training this week?)
and a lot of this:
And somehow we would become one of these:
I guess that is what I was thinking.
