In Which I Shall Become a Famous Chef of Ethiopian Cuisine

Teff Flour has been located and procured, (not at Walmart) and in such a cute little box to boot! Now, I shall commence the wonderful art of Ethiopian cooking, and shall henceforth only use injera in lieu of silverware.

I'll let you know how that goes.

Finishing Touches

The room is now officially done, decorationwise. (Well, except we are going to put his name in wooden letters on the wall... when he has a name...) We got the rest of the puppies,

and they are now hanging jollily on the wall, awaiting the eventually impending arrival of the Babykins.

Take a gander:

And: posing as the cherry on top... if you'll note, there in the doorway...

The results of this cute little "put some words on the wall" kit.

And I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

Go ahead and stand in awe for a minute. It'll be ok.

(Scroll down for more pics in case you missed them the first time around.)

In Which There is Room at the Inn

We have been working on Little One's room these days... which will serve to further torture us with the fact that he is not here to see it. Nevertheless... Here are it was before (as it existed when we moved in, only with some of our furniture):

And After:

Ok, we actually don't have the stars painted yet, nor do we have enough of the stars or the doggies to go the rest of the way around the room at this point, tho I do have them ordered online. (They are wooden cutout sort of things, currently taped up there just so we could see what it'll look like.)

Closer up of the doggies and stars.

I made this curtain; therefore, it is awesome.

The other side of the room, where one wall is brown.

Also, we have this cute little cubby thing for toys and books and such (ie, the library). I think it is very cute.

Wouldn't it be funny if we got a girl?!

Prego with Africa.

I have this necklace. I wear it every day.

I put it on the day we joined the wait list, and I may (or may not) take it off when our baby gets home. It is very cool, as you can see, and to make it even cooler, it was made by a lady trying to raise money for her Ethiopian granddaughter to come home. (She is home now, by the way.) Anyway, I got it here, in case you like to browse.

A Library of My Very Own

Furthermore, and in other news: Kiddo has a new library. My favorite bookstore had its grand opening here in the Fort this past weekend, (yay) and I had coupons (double yay), so I went there a bunch of times (over the course of the last 3 days), and THEN, Oh Glorious Day, I found the children's clearance section. Millions and billions (translated: one shelf) of scintillating children's books for one dollar a piece. I know, you are thinking, why not just join a library? Well, this hideous state has stupid rules about you have to live in the county to have a library card in that county's library, and my county has further stupid rules that say you have to live in the right township, and the Palace is sadly "on the wrong side of the tracks," so I have no library (sad face). I'd have to pay indecent amounts of money to join any library 'round these parts, and I, therefore, am revolting and not doing it. I am building my own library. One dollar priced clearance book at a time. Take that, county library rule makers! There were some gems, I tell ya. So anyway, ahem, that was really all I was saying there... I bought a bunch of clearance books, and some other books with coupons. It was so very much fun. I loved used bookstores, and especially this one. And I lived happily ever after. The end.

Rain, Rain, Go Away.

So the weather has looked like this for the last many many days. (Only our trees are still dead and bare, in true winter fashion, and not tropical in the least.)

It is something of a monsoon. Very moist indeed.

Sigh. At least it's not snowing.

103 is my New Favorite Number

Today, we have learned this amazing and wonderful fact: Currently we are number 103 on the list. That means, that a mere 102* people stand between me and my baby boy. No prob, Bob. I am practically there (after a long and agonizing wait of undetermined length).

*Note: These 102 people aren't necessarily "in front of" us, because they could be requesting, for instance, a baby girl. Or a sibling group. Or an older child. Or anything else besides a sweet, perfect, and beautiful** little baby boy between the ages of 0-24 months. In this case, they would really be considered to be waiting in a different line, however, there is actually only one line, so they would still be officially in front of me, even tho they are not, really. Got that? Great.

** Also Note: These qualities will be inherent in the word "MINE."

To inspire you, here is a picture, of (at least according to google) a little Ethiopian boy.
How can you not fall in love with a smile like that?

Happy Monday.
